Impression: Wiethaler conveniently has a bottle shop but I’ve never managed to be there when this Festbier was available so was happy to find it at Landbierbier Paradies. Deep amber hue foretells a classic Märzen, something increasingly rare. It’s a richly malty brew with spice in both the nose and palate, mixed in with a roasty caramel element. Underlying hops dry it enough in the lingering bittersweet finish. The alcohol is a little more obvious than I’d like at only 5.5% but it’s not cloying. Would like to try it on tap.
