Schmitt-Bräu Keller Pils
Brewery: Schmitt-Bräu
Town: Scheßlitz
Style: Keller Pils
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, creamy
Nose: light mix of grain and hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, light grain, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: The Keller Pils is similar in palate to the Helles but definitely more hoppy and balanced. It’s drier in the finish but retains a similar grainy palate which is more pronounced in the nose. The finish is drier and slightly more bitter but again the grains come more to the fore. I like it more than the Helles but think the Urstoff is still the best beer to drink more than one of. It seems many locals agree.
