Impression: This little brewery is hard to find even though on the main road running through the tiny village. It’s in the owner’s lovely lush backyard behind a wall of hedges. I’ll admit to being disappointed the second beer wasn’t wasn’t their noted Braunbier but this was one impressive looking Dunkelweizen with a chiffon like head that lastest to the last drop. The fruity nose had some roasted grain and the balanced palate was quite dry and hoppy for the style, with a light sourish quality I found refreshing. The lingering finish was quite dry for the style and though the average Weizen drinker may not like it, I am very happy to find an example of the style which isn’t cloying.
