Hübner Maibock
Brewery: Hübner
Town: Wattendorf
Style: Heller Bock
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, rocky, creamy
Nose: fruity, floral hops
Body: medium
Palate: hoppy, fruity, dry
Finish: lingering, dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I wasn’t sure if this would just be a rebranded Fastenbock or a distinct one. It’s the latter with a lighter golden hue and fruitier nose. It’s quite dry for a Bock but has plenty of malt backbone in it’s fruity palate laced with hops throughout. The lingering is likewise dry and semi-bitter.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
