Felsenbräu Weizenbock
Brewery: Felsenbräu
Town: Thalmannsfeld
Style: Weizenbock 7.2%
Color: deep orange honeycomb
Head: off-white, massive, yeasty, chiffon-like
Nose: fruity, apricot, yeasty, alcohol
Body: medium
Palate: richly malty, fruity, some dried apricot, yeasty, alcohol
Finish: lingering, fruity
Served: from a bottle bought at Landbier Paradies
Impression: I’d liked their Weizen I’d bought at the brewery and had heard good things about their Weizenbock so was happy to see this at the shop. Gorgeous pour with an amazing chiffon-like head and fruity nose laced with yeast and alcohol. The flavor is similarly fruity with a hint of apricot. This is a style that can be overpowered by alcohol and this one at 7.2% comes close to falling prey to that. Thankfully the fruity flavors power through for a lovely overall experience. The lingering finish isn’t as dry as I find the best but it’s not cloying and belies its strength well.

Great description of this beer!
Thanks, Don. Playing a lot of catch up this week. Back on the research road on Thursday. No rest for the beery!
