Stöckel-Bräu Heller Bock

golden beer in pewter lidded mug with bottle
Stöckel-Bräu Heller Bock

Brewery: Stöckel-Bräu
Town:
Hintergereuth
Style: Heller Bock 7%
Color:
deep golden
Head: white, creamy

Nose: richly
malty, light grain, hint of honey
Body: full

Palate:
balanced, richly malty, hint of honey, alcohol
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served:
from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: Great looking deep golden hue and creamy head with a richly malty nose tinged with honey. There’s an undercurrent of grain and a biscuit element along with the honey in the palate. The lingering semi-dry finish is bittersweet. Seems stronger than 7% and not as quaffable as the Roppel Bock I had yesterday. I like more hops in my Heller Bocks. I think the majority of people would too. That said, this is better than many and as a one and out, it’s a tasty enough example of the style.
