Günther-Bräu Schwarzbier

dark beer in glass with bottle
Günther-Bräu Schwarzbier

Brewery: Günther-Bräu
Town: Burgkunstadt
Schwarzbier 5.2%
Color: dark mahogany

Head: tan, creamy

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, malty, roasty, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: Picked this up despite their Landbier Dunkel being in the roasty Schwarzbier vein. It’s not generally my favorite style but this one I quite liked even though it’s in the classic mold. It’s a little lighter in color and body than is typical but it’s got a rounded malty palate with just enough roast. The finish is pretty clean and just dry enough. I could drink a few of these.
