Schlossbrauerei Stelzer Bock

amber beer in pewter-lidded mug with bottle
Schlossbrauerei Stelzer Bock

Brewery: Schlossbrauerei Stelzer
Town:
Fattigau
Style: Bock 6.7%

Color: amber

Head: off-white, creamy, ample
Nose: richly
malty, hint of honey
Body: full, soft

Palate: richly
malty, a touch of honey
Finish: lingering, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: I’ve had a couple of beers from this small Hof area brewery but its restaurant was closed at the time so finding this soft richly malty Bock had double benefits in being good and getting me to reinvestigate its being reopened. At any rate, this amber Bock has a reasonable 6.7% alcohol content and gorgeous amber hue. The richly malty nose tinged with honey follows into the palate. Lingering finish is bittersweet and avoids being cloying despite relatively low hopping.
