Impression: I’d seen quite a few good reviews of this gorgeous looking Weizenbock and was happy to see it on my last shopping excursion. Gorgeous pour with a lovely rich, light, unfiltered chestnut hue and rocky yeasty head. The yeasty nose is fruity with some banana. The alcohol is apparent in the mostly balanced fruity palate. The lingering finish avoids being cloying despite the relative lack of hops in the heady mix of rich fruity malt and meandering alcohol which is ever-present but manages not to dominate. It’s a tad simpler than the very best but it’s worth seeking out and I’d buy again as well.
