Hönicklaus Festbier
Brewery: Hönicka Bräu Wunsiedler
Town: Wunsiedel
Style: Festbier 5.3%
Color: light chestnut
Head: off-white, sudsy, massive
Nose: malt, light grain
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, grainy
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the Bayreuth
Impression: This was another great looking beer from Hönicka, a welcomed light chestnut Festbier rather than the all too typical golden. Nice mix of grain and malt in the nose. Balanced palate features the same before the lingering semi-dry semi-bitter finish.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
