Günther-Bräu Bockbier Dunkel

dark beer in glass with bottle
Günther Bräu Bockbier Dunkel

Brewery: Günther-Bräu
Town: Burgkunstadt
Dunkler Bock 7.5%
Color: mahogany

Head: off-
white, rocky
Nose: richly malty,
Body: medium
to full
Palate: richly malty, roasty
Finish: lingering, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: I liked their Maibock so picked up two of these only to find a Dunkler Bock is a completely different animal. At 7.5%, this is more in the Doppelbock family and the richly malty palate fits better there too. It’s got some roast but the lingering finish is a tad sweet for my taste and wish I’d just bought one now.
