Becher-Bräu Jean Paul

dark beer in snifter with bottle
Becher-Bräu Jean Paul

Brewery: Becher-Bräu
Town:
Bayreuth
Style:
Schwarzbier 5.5%
Color:
dark mahogany
Head: off-white

Nose: rich malt, roast

Body:
medium
Palate:
malty, roasty
Finish: lingering, roasty

Served: from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: Brewed to commemorate Bayreuth writer Jean Paul, this dark lager most closely resembles a Schwarzbier with its roasty palate and near black appearance. Though not a favorite style of mine, when dry it can be appealing. This one, however, is anything but with a lingering sticky finish that should find me remembering to not buy again.
