Schwarzer Adler Hausbier

amber beer in logo glass
Schwarzer Adler Hausbier (contract brewed)

Brewery: Friedmann
Town: Gräfenberg

Altfränkisch Lager
Color: amber

Head: off-white
, creamy
Nose: malt
, hint of roast
balanced, malty, light fruitiness, hint of roast
Finish: lingering, semi-dry

Served: on tap at Schwarzer Adler in Schlüsselfeld

Impression: Though a contract brew from this former brewery, I found myself in town before the Scheubel Keller opened and the the restaurant looked promising and busy so I stopped for lunch. This amber Altfrankisch was nicely poured in a logo glass and while not anything amazing, it was a pleasantly malty brew in the classic old Franconian lager style with a light fruity element and touch of roast. It avoids a sticky finish without much bitterness.
