Palmbräu Schwarzer Zornickel

Palmbräu Schwarzer Zornikel

Brewery: Palmbräu
Town:
Eppingen
Style: Dunkler Doppelbock 8
%
Color: dark unfiltered mahogany

Head: off-
white to tan
Nose: richly malty, hint of roast, some licorice, burnt toffee

Body: medium
to full
Palate:
richly malty, hint of licorice and roast
Finish: lingering, bittersweet, sticky

Served: from a bottle bought in Bad Rappenau

Impression: I bought this partially because the woman at a Palmbräu outlet gave me a free glass. I also thought it was a dark Zwickel but Zornkel is another story. As it turns out, it’s an 8% Doppelbock. If you don’t like liquorice, you can forget about this one. I love it but this is a bit syrupy for me. An interesting sipper at best, I don’t see anyone drinking a liter of this at a festival.
