Lindenbräu Tennen Hell

golden beer in logo glass
Lindenbräu Tennen Hell

Brewery: Lindenbräu
Town: Gräfenberg

Style: Helles
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, rocky, creamy
Nose: mix of grain and hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, light grain, fair hopping, dry for style
Finish: clean, semi-dry

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression:  Good looking unfiltered golden brew, better than expected. It’s got a bit of Franconia to it but definitely a Helles if drier than southern varieties. It’s not particularly bitter but it’s clean and dry. All this said, I’d have preferred another Vollbier and that’s what I’ll get next time. Variety is good, maybe even necessary in today’s beer drinking climate but will it distract from older styles? Could it even spell their end as people gravitate to them?

Next beer or back to the beer list.
