Kürzdörfer Lindenhardter Bockbier Dunkel

Kürzdörfer Bockbier Dunkel

Brewery: Kürzdörfer
Town: Lindenhardt

Style: Dunkler Bock 6.9%
Color: chestnut
Head: off white, rocky, ample, lasting
Nose: richly malty, some roast
Body: full
Palate: balanced, richly malty, dark chocolate, underlying hops, a touch of butter
Finish: linger, semi-bitter, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle bought in Bayreuth

Impression: Gorgeous pour with chestnut hue and ample rocky off-white head. It took forever. A mix of roast, dark chocolate malt and hops in the nose carry over into the richly malty palate. There’s a touch of integrated butter which isn’t obtrusive, a bit in the Czech dark beer vein. The lingering finish avoids being cloying in a semi-dry bittersweet way at 6.9%. While not in the league of Gradl, this Bock is very much a product of this area. It tastes like part of the same family.
