Impression: I’d read a bit about Häffner’s sideline brewery Hopfenstopfer and though intrigued, I wasn’t about to plonk down five Euros for a small bottle at their pub. So, I was happy to find bottles of four of their Craft Beer offerings, including this Pale Lager for a fraction of the cost. Brewed with Monroe hops, this is a relatively low 20 IBUs but it’s fairly dry nonetheless. There’s a nice citrusy element to the balanced palate and the lingering finish is semi-dry with just a touch of bitterness. It’s ale like but has the definite smoothness of a lager too.
