Strecks Brauhaus Bio Helles

Brewery: Strecks Brauhaus
Town: Osterheim vor der Rhön

Style: Helles 4.9
%
Color: golden

Head:
white, creamy
Nose: light grain

Body: medium

Palate: balanced, nice grain element, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: on tap at the Zur Krone in Ostheim vor der Rhön

Impression: My wife’s Pils was so impressive and served in a mug with a massive rocky head while my Helles came in a standard glass with a fading head no less. Second one looks much better but initial impressions last. It’s maltier but not particularly grainier than the Pils. Though not as hoppy, they seem more pronounced. The finish is less certain and I’d say it’s not only not as good a beer as the Pils but not really a good example of a Helles due to the hop presence.  It’s a decent beer to drink, I had two and could have drunk it all night. That said, I’d drink the Pils as my go to beer if I lived here. Of course, if the Ostheimer Dunkel were on tap, I’d probably drink that a fair amount too.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
