Strecks Brauhaus 1718

amber beer in logo glass with bottle
Strecks Brauhaus 1718

Brewery: Strecks Brauhaus
Town: Osterheim vor der Rhön

Style: Festbier 5.2
%
Color: reddish golden

Head:
white, creamy, rocky
Nose: malty, some spice

Body: medium

Palate: richly malty, nice spice element, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in Ostheim

Impression: Brewed in commemoration of their 300th anniversary in 2018, this reddish Festbier is richly malty but has balancing bitterness from the start. I’d have preferred it to remain more on the malty side until the finish but it’s better than the sticky finish you find in many.

Next beer or back to the beer list.

    1. Some even older breweries here, Don but the nice thing about this one is it’s still in the same family. If you check out the write up of the brewery in the link from the beer review, you’ll see what they’ve been through since WWII split Germany in half too.
