Sauer Frühlings Märzen
Brewery: Sauer
Town: Roßdorf am Forst
Style: dry-hopped Märzen 5.5%
Color: unfiltered light amber
Head: white, creamy, rocky lasting
Nose: hoppy
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, richly malty, hoppy
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I specifically stopped for lunch to enjoy this spring seasonal dry hopped Märzen. Great looking pour with a dense lasting rocky head and some hops in the nose. Balanced fruity palate features hops throughout but they are part of the picture rather than the whole show. Clean semi-dry semi-bitter finish seals the deal.

I'm an American living in Munich. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also just published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria. View all posts by beerwanderers
