Roppelt (Trossenfurt) Festmärzen bottle

golden beer in pewter lidded mug with bottle
Roppelt (Trossenfurt) Festmärzen

Brewery: Roppelt
Style: Rauchmärzen 5.4
Color: unfiltered amber

Head: off-white,
rocky, chiffon-like
Nose: malty, light grain, hint of smoke

full, effervescent
richly malty, fruity, light grain, underlying hops, hint of smoke
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery

Impression: I finally made it inside their pub but this Festmärzen wasn’t on tap so had their tasty Lager and got one of these to go. Gorgeous pour with an appealing unfiltered amber hue and incredible chiffon like rocky head. It’s fruity and effervescent for the style but very refreshing as well. There’s just kiss of smoke but a nice touch. The lingering finish is dryishly moreish with a deceptive 5.4%.
