Haberstumpf Hell
Brewery: Haberstumpf
Town: Trebgast
Style: Hell 5%
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: white, creamy
Nose: bready, malty
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, fruity, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought at Landbier Paradies
Impression: Not seen bottles from this at one point defunct brewery so picked this up. Was expecting a Helles but it’s an unfiltered amber. Creamy head thins out. Bready fruity nose has me tasting an ale. It’s balanced and dry enough but just a little thin on flavor. I’ve had a lot worse and it’s certainly a beer you could down a few of at a Keller.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also just published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria. View all posts by beerwanderers
