Eichhorn (Hertl) Winterbier

unfiltered amber beer in glass with bottle
Eichhorn Winterbier

Brewery: Eichhorn, (Hertl)
Town: Forchheim
Style:
Festbier 5.5%
Color:
unfiltered amber
Head: off-
white, creamy
Nose:
apricot
Body:
medium
Palate:
balanced, malty, fruity, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, dry, slightly bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: Was looking like a good pour but sentiment in the bottle marred it. The due date wasn’t for seven months. This Craft Beer interpretation of a Festbier has a nice fruity element but some off flavors as well. Finish is lingering to nowhere in particular. It’s pricey and nowhere near as good as the old Eichhorn beers. Will reserve judgement until I resample the latest on tap at the pub but wouldn’t buy this again. These bottles are reportedly brewed for Hertl by Rittmayer in Hallerdorf who also bottles their other beers.
