Raab Zeilberg Dunkel
Brewery: Raab
Town: Hofheim
Style: Dunkel 5%
Color: unfiltered dark chestnut
Head: off-white, rocky, chiffon-like
Nose: malty, chocolate, hint of coffee
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, light chocolate/ coffee
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought at Sagasser in Lower Franconia
Impression: Amazing pour with a chiffon-like rocky head and some chocolate and coffee in the nose. Very dry for the style with a nice chocolate coffee component to the balanced palate. The finish is surprisingly clean for its complexity, with a dryness permeating. Very nice.

I'm an American living in Munich. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also just published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria. View all posts by beerwanderers
