Kesselring Urfränkisches Winterbier
Brewery: Kesselring
Town: Marktsteft
Style: Festbier 5.5%
Color: deep amber
Head: white, creamy
Nose: rich malt, hint of spice
Body: full, soft
Palate: richly malty, hint of spice, fruity, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought at Sagasser in Lower Franconia
Impression: I didn’t realize this was Kesselring when I bought it but the bottle looked familiar. Urfränkisches is their moniker so must remember as this is another good one from them. It’s soft due to its low carbonation and I love the clarity of the deep amber hue. It’s malty but not cloying with understated hops which dry out the lingering finish nicely.
