Düll Krautheimer Dunkler Doppelbock
Brewery: Düll
Town: Krautheim
Style: Dunkler Doppelbock 7.8%
Color: mahogany
Head: ebony, rocky
Nose: malty, white pepper, dried fruit, hint of licorice
Body: full
Palate: balanced, richly malty, dried fruit, white pepper, hint of licorice
Finish: lingering, bittersweet
Served: from a bottle bought at Sagasser in Lower Franconia
Impression: Nice looking Doppelbock with an ample head and signature white pepper in the nose. This has more going on than mere spice with dried fruit and licorice intermingling. This is the first beer I’ve found the signature white pepper element odd. It just doesn’t seem to fit in. The lingering finish is bittersweet but not overly cloying even at 7.8%.
