Wettelsheimer Hell
Brewery: Strauss
Town: Wettelsheim 4.9%
Style: Helles
Color: deep golden
Head: white, creamy, rocky
Nose: malty, grainy, mown grass, hint of honey
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, slightly grainy, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, very slight bitterness
Served: on tap at Gasthof Zum Goldenen Lamm
Impression: I’d had this a couple of times as bottles are easy to find at the Treuchlingen train station but have always wanted to try it on tap. Since it’s not at the Wettelsheimer Keller, I made my way to the Lamb in the village. It’s a good looking deeply golden Helles with a lovely head and malty nose. This is quite rich for a Helles and while quite malty, it’s got just enough dryness to make it moreish.
