Sonnen-Bräu Imperial Stout
Brewery: Sonnen-Bräu
Town: Mürsbach
Style: Imperial Stout 10%
Color: black, ruby highlights
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: rich malt, dried fruit, licorice
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, richly malty, dried fruit
Finish: lingering, semi-dry
Served: on tap at Hop Dog
Impression: This is the brewery’s first stab at an Imperial Stout and while very tasty and balanced, it’s quite thin for the style mouthfeel-wise. It’s got a nice fruit element and a touch of licorice but lacks the complexity and fullness you expect in a high gravity dark beer.
