Herbsthäuser Helles
Brewery: Herbsthäuser
Town: Herbsthausen
Style: Helles 5%
Color: golden
Head: white, rocky
Nose: malty, slightly grainy
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, lightly grainy, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Herbsthäuser Brauereigaststätte
Impression: Good looking pour, they take their time. Nice rocky head but despite the time taken, a bit fizzier than I like. That said, it’s a fairly dry Helles with a balanced palate featuring a nice grainy element. The clean finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
