Herbsthäuser Alt-Fränkisch
Brewery: Herbsthäuser
Town: Herbsthausen
Style: Dunkel 5.5%
Color: chestnut
Head: off-white, thinning
Nose: malty, slightly roasty
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, roasty
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle at the Herbsthäuser Brauereigaststätte
Impression: This should have been on tap according to the menu but my server warned of it being in a bottle at the moment. I guess it was a bit hot out for the style. I’d opted for the Roulade with this beer in mind so got it anyway. Admittedly, it was a bit warm for the meal choice as well. All that said, it wasn’t a good pour and came out with little head but was a nice enough roasty beer with a lingering semi-dry finish. I’d definitely wait to have it in a colder month, on tap next time.
