Hausbrauerei Altstadthof Rote Weisse

redish weizen in logo glass
Hausbrauerei Rote Weisse

Brewery: Hausbrauerei Altstadthof
Red Weizen 5.2%
Color: unfiltered amber

Head: off-white
, creamy
Nose: fruity, some banana

Palate: fruity, banana

Finish: lingering

Served: on tap at their attached Bräustüberl

Impression: I was going to skip the Weizen but had read it was made with 50% red malt. It’s got a fruitier nose and palate with a fair touch of banana but oddly the lingering finish is somehow cleaner than the signature Rotbier. I’m not sure the overall flavor is better. If a Weizen drinker, it’s worth a try and a departure from the style if only slightly. I was happy to see .2 pours and well worth trying in that case, even if pricey at 2.5€.
