Franken Bräu Hohenloher Schlitzohr Dunkel

dark beer in pils glass with big head and bottle

Franken Bräu Hohenloher Schlitzohr Dunkel

Brewery: Franken Bräu
Dunkel 5.2%
Color: chestnut

Head: off-white, rocky, lasting

light roast malt, hint of caramel
Body: medium

balanced, light roast, some caramel, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery

Impression: A friend picked this up for me and very glad he did. It’s another winner from Franken Bräu. Gorgeous pour with an incredible rocky head and a nice nose of roast and caramel. Roast and light caramel in the palate as well before the lingering semi-dry bittersweet finish. A true Franconian Dunkel. Odd that it’s sold in a 33cl bottle, I could go for more of it right now.
