Forstquell-Kupfer
Brewery: Forstquell
Town: Fürnheim (Wassertrüdingen)
Style: Rotbier 5.2%
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: malty, hint of milk chocolate, slight roast
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, hint of chocolate
Finish: clean, semi-dry, bittersweet
Served: on tap at Fortquell Tavernwirtschaft (formerly Hohenberger Brauerei)
Impression: Another dreamy creamy looking beer with some milk chocolate in both the nose and palate of the otherwise whats seems signature typical dryness of the Forst Quell brews. It’s perhaps the most interesting of their beers but I’m not sure I like it better than the Gold. I had to get another of each! The second one reveals this to be my favorite Rotbier, with by far the cleanest finish. I’d still say the Gold was my favorite and certainly the one I’d drink if there for a long session.
