St. GeorgenBräu Hellerbock

amber beer in pewter lidded mug with bottle
St. GeorgenBräu Hellerbock

Brewery: St. Georgen
Town:
Buttenheim
Style:
Hellerbock
Color:
oddly amber even though called Hellerbock
Head: off-
white, creamy
Nose:
richly malty, some caramel and biscuit, Spalter hops
Body: medium

Palate:
balanced, rich malt, some caramel and biscuit
Finish: lingering, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought in Bamberg

Impression: Interesting Hellerbock given that it’s amber in hue. I’m certainly all in favor of it but some might be disappointed by its color. It’s got some fair caramel and biscuit in the nose along with Spalter hops. It’s a touch thinner than comparable beers but it’s only 6.5% so quite drinkable. The lingering finish semi-dry finish falls a bit below moreish but I like it and could see drinking a couple of them if I ever found it on tap.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
