Spalter Kerwabier

golden beer in pewter lidded mug with bottle
Spalter Kerwabier

Brewery: Stadtbrauerei Spalt (Spalter Bier)
Town:
Spalt
Style: Festbier 5%
Color: golden

Head:
white, creamy
Nose:
nice mix of grain & Spalter hops
Body: medium

Palate:
balanced, grainy, Spalter hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: I was happy to find this in a neighboring village shop when visiting that brewery as I’d not seen it aside from Instagram posts. I was surprised it poured a pale golden as I’d expected an amber brew. After reading the label I see it’s a Helles Vollbier with a lowish 5% as Kerwabiers go. It’s pleasantly and unsurprisingly hoppy as you’d imagine from this hop growing region brewery. It’s not overly bitter and I’d be happy to session on it at a festival.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
