Häberlen Gaildorfer Dunkel
Brewery: Häberlen
Town: Gaildorf
Style: Dunkel 5.3%
Color: amber
Head: off-white
Nose: malty
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, fruity, slight roast
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: This is one good looking amber brew with a malty fruity palate far removed from Munich Dunkles beers. It initially seems very simple but reveals itself to be deceptively tasty. The lingering finish is just dry enough to make it moreish. It’s a classic example of a beer which is hard to put your finger on as to what makes it so good. I guess the best course of action is to simply drink it and enjoy.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
