Brauerei Ott Ladara Bock Bourbon
Brewery: Ott
Town: Oberleinleiter
Style: Bourbon barrel-aged Dunkler Bock
Color: deep chestnut
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: light bourbon
Body: medium-bodied
Palate: richly malty, fair smooth bourbon, light smoke
Finish: lingering, semi-dry semi-bitter, bourbon
Served: from a bottle bought in Bamberg
Impression: Nice pour with a deep chestnut hue and richly malty nose featuring prominent but not overpowering bourbon. Palate follows suit with a light smokiness. More noted for their Hellerbock I’ve never seen the regular Ladara Bock, an amped up version of their Ladara Dunkel. This one is aged in an oak bourbon barrel but that element isn’t overpowering even if fairly prominent. The lingering finish is quite moreish and I’m not particularly into bourbon.
