Schlenkerla Heinzlein Helles Bier

unfiltered golden beer in logo glass with bottle
Schlenkerla Heinzlein Helles Bier

Brewery: Heller (Schlenkerla)
Town: Bamberg
Style: low alcohol light beer .9%
Color: unfiltered light golden
Head: white, rocky, great retention, chiffon-like
Nose: cereal

Body: light
Palate: hoppy, cereal
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter bitter

Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery

Impression: Amazing looking beer with a gorgeous rocky head. Lots of cereal in the nose, much like the Dunkles version minus the light smoke. Again much fuller bodied than you’d imagine and super head retention. Not quite as hoppy but perhaps more cereal shining through. Finish is lingering, semi-dry and semi-bitter. This is might not be as good as the dark version but it’s refreshing and surprising tasty. I’d take it over a Radler any day.  Schlenkerla pulls off another difficult feat but after having this, I’d like to see them brew something in the 3-3.5% range.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
