Color: in Krug so no visuals
Head: white, creamy, rocky
Nose: slightly grainy, light hop
Palate: balanced, malty, light grain, hoppy
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Gambrinus Keller outside of Unterhaid
Impression: I had a beer in the Gambrinus pub in Unterhaid many years ago. It was one of my first rural pub experiences in 2002. I quite liked it. Unbeknownst to me at the time, they had stopped brewing in 2000 after 500 years! The beer at the Keller is now brewed by the Schlossbrauerei Reckendorf but lagered at the Keller. It looked great, even in a Krug. It’s quite hoppy but not particularly bitter with a nice balanced palate featuring just enough grain. I could certainly drink a few of these and like it more than any other Reckendorfer beers I’ve had.
