Brewery: BroBier (brewed at Schloßbrauerei)
Head: off-white, creamy, rocky
Nose: fresh malt, Spalter hops
Palate: balanced, malty, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, very slight bitterness
Served: from a bottle in Bamberg
Impression: According to sources, it’s brewed at a separate and modern part of the larger Schlossbrauerei Reckendorf with their own recipes. They do some craft beer type things but also concentrate on more traditional styles like this Vollbier. It’s a good looking amber brew with a lovely head and beery aroma like waltzing through a field of barley. It’s quite balanced and has a nice fresh malty flavor. Tastes like the smell of beer being brewed. It’s not sweet and yet not really bitter either, maintaining a nice dryness into the moreish finish.
They’ve recently opened a restaurant in Bamberg called Das Brüderla which has an assortment of their beers on tap. I plan on stopping by next time in town.
