Stefansbräu Pils
Brewery: Stefansbräu
Town: Wilhelmshöhe (Dinkelsbühl)
Style: Pils
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, creamy, rocky
Nose: hoppy, light grain
Body: medium
Palate: dry, lightly grainy, hoppy
Finish: clean, dry, bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in the area
Impression: I quite liked all of their beers on tap but didn’t have time for the Pils so happy to bring a bottle home. Gorgeous pour with an ample rocky head and hoppy/grainy nose. Some might find it lacking in malt but I find the dry hoppy palate just right for a Pils and make no mistake, this is a true Pils, not an ill-named Helles. The clean finish is bitter but not overly so. While I’d rather session on their Zwickel, this is a great aperitif or nice beer to have if you’re not having more than one.
