Hauf Dinkelator

beer in logo ceramic mug with bottle
Hauf Dinkelator

Brewery: Hauf
Town:
Dinkelsbühl
Style:
Doppelbock
Color:
in a Krug so no visuals but mahogany from description
Head: off-
white
Nose:
richly malty, some roast
Body: full

Palate:
richly malty, roasty
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle at Den Wilden Mann

Impression: It’s hard to get a handle on in a Krug but much richer than anything on tap. It’s certainly a velvety Starkbier but lacks the dryness of every other beer sampled. Admittedly it is 7.4%. I’d have to say it was my least favorite. I should have bought a bottle to bring home rather than drink it at the pub once I found out it wasn’t on tap. Next time I’ll know better.

Back to the beer list.

    1. It probably would have been better to save it for another day, Don. I’d been to the supermarket before going to the brewery and knew they had it. I’d told myself to only have it if it were on tap but obviously hadn’t listened. 😉 Good to be back but have a ton to catch up on and some tours looming too.
