Impression: I had planned on visiting the brewery to sample this on tap but it ran out before I could get there so was happy when a local friend gave me a bottle. It pours with a nice creamy off-white head and richly malty nose. It’s a classic Fastenbock with a dark amber hue and richly malty palate. There’s some roast and a hint of dried fruit in the mix too. It seems stronger than 6.7% with the alcohol up front. The lingering finish is nonetheless semi-dry and surprisingly bitter. I returned during Lent of 2023 and not only had it on tap but got a few bottles and a logo glass to bring home. 🙂 It was wonderful once again.
