Mönchshof Hell

golden beer in pewter mug with bottle
Mönchshof Hell

Brewery: Mönchshof
Town:
Kulmbach
Style:
Helles 4.9%
Color: golden

Head: white

Nose: light
grain
Body:
medium
Palate:
balanced, malty, some grain
Finish: lingering, semi-bitter

Served: from a bottle bought in Munich

Impression: I’ve always found it odd this Franconian Helles is so readily available in Munich but I guess that’s the power of a brewing conglomerate. It’s surprisingly sweet for a Franconian beer and even compared to Munich Helles. It’s not got a bad flavor but it’s not got a lot of taste period. It says mild on the label and I guess that’s what they’re going for: bland.
