Hofbräu Oberle Fastenschluck
Brewery: Hofbräu Oberle
Town: Kosbach
Style: Doppelbock/Fastenbier 7%
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: rich malt, citrus hops
Body: full
Palate: balanced, richly malty, firm hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Die Fischerei
Impression: This was a real surprise and so glad I got a pint. Much hoppier than all its stablemates and its purported 25 IBU, this is one of the hoppiest Bocks I’ve had in Bavaria. Gorgeous signature creamy head and mix of rich malt and citrus hops in the nose. The palate is much the same and the lingering finish is moreishly dangerous.
