Herbsthäuser Gold Märzen

Style: Märzen 5.5%
Color: deep golden
Head: white, creamy, rocky, lasting
Nose: richly malty
Body: medium
Palate: richly malt forward, light grain, underlying hops
Finish: clean, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle bought in the area

Impression: I went looking for Distelhäuser beers at the local supermarket when in the area and was happy to find a couple of them and a few from another brewery in the area I plan to visit soon: Herbsthäuser. This is one gorgeous looking gold Märzen with a lasting rocky head and richly malty nose. Light graininess is lovely and doesn’t intrude on the otherwise largely malty palate. Underlying hops kick in to dry out the lingering bittersweet finish. Quite nice.
