Hebendanz Bock
Brewery: Hebendanz
Town: Forchheim
Style: Bock 6.1%
Color: deep golden
Head: white, creamy
Nose: malty
Body: medium
Palate: richly malty
Finish: lingering
Served: from a bottle at the brewery
Impression: I was happy to see their Bock still available at their pub but it wasn’t on tap so I asked to see the bottle and to pour it myself. It appeared to be totally unfiltered which would have been highly unusual for a Bock in this town. I actually thought it was spoiled but no sooner did I venture to ask the server about it and it became totally clear! It was richly malty for a relatively weak Bock at 6.1% but not a lot else going on. The lingering finish wasn’t as cloying as it could have been but not exactly enticing either. I might try it on tap if I saw it but I wouldn’t buy a bottle again.
