Hofmühl Märzengold bottle

amber beer in logo mug with bottle
Hofmühl Märzengold

Brewery: Hofmühl
Town:
Eichstätt
Style:
Märzen
Color: amber

Head:
white, sudsy
Nose:
malty, spicy
Body:
medium to full
Palate:
malty, some spice
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: from a bottle at Brauerei-Gasthof Trompete

Impression: Nice looking self-pour and much better than the Weißbier. No butterscotch and some spice in the otherwise mostly malty palate. Lingering finish could be a bit drier but a decent example of a dying beer style so I won’t be picky. Would be nice to see it on tap but not likely many would drink it. Ten years from now it probably won’te even be available in a bottle.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
