Becher-Bräu Winter Festbier

Becher-Bräu Winter Festbier

Brewery: Becher-Bräu
Town:
Bayreuth
Style:
Festbier
Color:
amber
Head:
off-white, rocky
Nose: rich malt, dried stone fruit

Body:
medium
Palate:
balanced, malty, fruity, grainy, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry

Served: from a bottle at the brewery

Impression: I don’t generally drink bottled beer at a brewery but I’d liked the amber Vollbier and this sounded similar. Besides it’s not likely I’ll see it again before next year. Great looking self-pour with a massive rocky head. Surprisingly light despite being 5.4%, it also lacked the buttery notes of the Vollbier. Similarly fruity, but not as dry. The finish missed the light bitterness too. I’d surely try it on tap if I see it but would pass on buying it in a bottle, at least if in the pub.

Next beer or back to the beer list.

  1. Hi Rich: we spoke on a different page a week or so ago and u convinced me to add Franconia to my solo backpacking trek next April (originally it was gonna be just Munich to Prague, but now I added Weltenberg to Bamberg and then east of Bamberg). Several questions to ask u if you don’t mind fielding them.

    1. Glad to hear you’re including Bamberg and Weltenburg. Drop me a mail with any questions you have, easier than communicating on a page. During Christmas, I’ll be away so I might take longer to respond. Happy planning!
