Bayreuth

Dunkler Bock
Color:
dark amber
Head: off-

richly malty, stone fruit

full
Palate: balanced, richly malty, fruity
, underlying hops

Served: on tap at Manns Bräu

Impression: I quite enjoyed this at lunch but then went to Becher Bräu and had what seemed like another slightly lighter Bock. When I returned to Manns Bräu that evening for dinner, I found the Bock simpler and most likely the same as the Becher Bräu one. It’s meant to be a collaboration between the brothers as implied by the name. That said, it’s a nice sweetish dark Bock with some fruity notes before a semi-dry finish. It’s fairly clean and not overly cloying seeing how it’s 7.5% and more in the Doppelbock range. I had a bottled Josefi Bock which I found superior and it a appears to be their Lent beer so will have to return then to have it on tap.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
